Blue collar country western soul…

Born in Amarillo, TX and raised in Dickens County, Trent Willmon has Texas red dirt in his blood. This ranch kid gone renowned songwriter & producer was bred to make country music and you can hear his truth in every word. At an early age, he began working on the family ranch as well as neighboring farms and ranches before studying animal science at South Plains College. There he joined his first band and decided to pursue music instead. A rural upbringing taught him skills that transposed well into songwriting: work ethic, an ability to roll with the kicks and a deep appreciation for the simple things in life – The things that are the heart and soul of small town Americana. Real life experiences forged the bones of what would become Willmon’s art of the song.

After years of playing in bands around Texas (including upright bass for bluegrass legend, Karl Shifflett), he found himself in Nashville, TN as a side musician playing bass and guitar for other artists. In between sessions, he would also continue to work on local horse farms outside of town. Trent signed his first publishing deal with Seagayle Music and soon after started a band called “Cow Camp” whose members included hit-songwriter Clint Ingersoll on lead guitar and Granger Smith (Earl Dibbles, Jr.) on steel. While playing the Nashville Broadway bar scene and a house band gig at Big Jim Country in Lewisburg, Trent honed his chops as a front man, landing him a record deal with Sony / Columbia. In 2005, Willmon released his debut self-titled album and broke into the industry with featured videos on CMT and GAC. Over his brief solo career, he released four different albums that are still available for listening today.

Not only did the fans appreciate his music, but the entertainment industry also gave him a nod. His cowboy persona evoked a call to take part in television as the host of GAC’s America’s Top Cowboy and voiceover narration on the show Meet The McMillans. You may have even seen him as a star role in the movie Palo Pinto Gold.

Trent Willmon has written many songs cut by top recording artists like Brad Paisley, Eric Church, Cody Johnson, Little Big Town, Randy Houser, Blake Shelton, Wade Hayes, Kevin Fowler, Maddie & Tae, Roger Creager, Merle Haggard and more… See the full catalog HERE

Several of his co-written songs have been in heavy rotation on traditional radio and he has had numerous recorded songs reach #1 on Texas regional radio charts.

He continues to write for artists that resonate with his country and western roots, but has found a more recent calling behind the studio console. Producing albums for Cody Johnson, Kevin Fowler, Chancey Williams, and several other independent artists; he has made a name for himself as an outstanding producer and publisher.

After the work is done, you will find Trent giving back to charities, fishing, hunting, on the back of a horse, smoking up some Texas barbecue and enjoying time with family. Truly living a life worth writing about.
